Summer Food Service Program Materials

CNOP has a variety of FREE materials that you can use to implement, improve, and promote your summer food service program. Most of these materials are available for you to download. Others need to be ordered by mail. If you have difficulty accessing any of these resources or have questions regarding what is available, feel free to email cnop@projectbread.org.

This flyer is the perfect tool for providing information about the Summer Food Service Program. It describes the benefits of the program and explains how you can get involved.

SFSP Multilingual Flyers
These 8 1/2" x 11" black and white flyers contain general information about the Summer Food Service Program in a variety of languages. Version 1 includes English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian-Creole. Version 2 features English, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese.

You can download these flyers and make copies for students, housing authority tenants, and clients at community service agencies. You can also distribute copies at local libraries, churches, and supermarkets. Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian-Creole.

New! SFSP Coloring and Activity Sheets
These four double-sided activity sheets include crossword puzzles, rebuses, coloring pages, songs, and even a rap song adapted for summer! On each sheet there is a list of food resources for families. You can photocopy the sheets and give them to families or distribute them at meal sites for kids to color and use! Some of these are available in Spanish and Portuguese.

Customize our sample Public Service Announcement (PSA) templates with your program information and submit them to your local cable station to promote your summer meals. Available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

To edit the PSAs, you must first save them to your computer. To do so: Right-click on the link and then select 'Save Target As'.

These newspaper ad templates are available in two sizes (5" x 8.5" and 3" x 3.75") and can be downloaded, customized, and directly submitted to your local paper. All of the templates include general SFSP information and a space for you to add your community name. For each size, there is a general version and another that features an area for your program information and/or site listings. Newspaper ad templates are available in English and Spanish.

Our SFSP Outreach Planner provides an easy way for you to outline your monthly outreach activities to schools, media, local businesses and community agencies. Our sample planner will give you some ideas for ways to promote your program while our blank planner template will enable you to create your own outreach and programming schedule.

SFSP Parent letter
This sample letter from a SFSP sponsor or school food service director can be sent to parents at the end of the school year to both notify them about the Summer Food Service Program and provide them with a list of summer meal sites in their community.

Sample Letter to Editor
Our sample letter to the editor describes the Summer Food Service Program and highlights its many benefits. Before school ends, modify our sample letter with your community's information and send it to your local newspapers.

This sample media advisory can be used to alert the press of an upcoming SFSP event that you would like them to attend. Just add the details of your specific event.

Sample Press Release
Modify this sample press release with information about a special event taking place at your summer meal site and send it to your local paper following the event. You can also share this press release with any reporters who attend your event. Any media attention that you receive will greatly benefit your program.

Summer Brainstorm Newsletter
Our Summer Brainstorm Newsletter provides ideas and information to help you increase participation in your summer program. The newsletter is distributed once per summer.
